Why did we start this company?
It can be said that the seeds were planted for this company on September 30, 2007. This is the day that we went to the Mansfield Pound to look at a litter of puppies born there nine weeks earlier. The only puppy left, and the runt of the litter came home to live with us, and we have spoiled him ever since. This puppy is, of course, Atticus Finch.
We left the pound with our new baby and drove straight to Petco. After Atticus threw up the lunch he had just eaten in the parking lot, we bought all of our essentials, a leash, collar, bed, crate, and food and water bowls…and of course some toys. While shopping we looked for some items that had a unique look to them. The food bowl we bought has a great pattern on it, but the collar and leash were pretty plain. Our search for cool dog accessories began the moment we first began shopping for our dog.
As Atticus grew out of his puppy collars, we bought new ones, but none ever satisfied our need to live outside the norm. We did find a skull and cross collar that was great. It was a hit at the local dog park, but the quality was not great and the price was high. So, our search continued.Â
Atticus, being a pit bull mix, has a short coat, and so naturally gets cold when the weather cools down, so we bought him a hooded sweatshirt. We looked at the major pet supply stores, at small boutique shops, and on the internet. There were two problems we ran into constantly…that there was not enough variety in designs, and the sizes available never went above medium. We were able to find a sweatshirt for Atticus online, and we bought him a medium, because that’s what the size guide told us to buy. It didn’t fit, so we had to buy a large. This just upped our frustration level.
The last nail in the coffin, so to speak, was the fact that all of the small boutique pet stores only carried products that could be found online, and are available to everyone. No one was selling anything that was unique or even remotely different.
We set out to change that. Our pet accessories will feature unique designs from different artists from our area. These will be featured on our collars, leashes, sweatshirts, food bowls. We will have dog clothing starting at size medium and going all the way up to XXL. We will even do larger sizes if there is a demand for it. Durable toys, approved by Atticus, will also be available; as well as several training aids.
We want to provide our customers with quality products that will make their dog stand out from the pack. Â We want to provide our customers with products that that cannot find anywhere else.
